Change display settings
When you import files to eScan Academy, we will automatically customize features such as allowed image types, required patient information, available multiple-choice questions, teaching points, segmentation labels, etc. However, occasionally we are not able to display your images exactly the way you want - at least not at first. This guide explains how you can manually change display settings.
Open the case in the case editor. If you do not know how to access the case editor, or a new to the case editor, you can find more information in this guide.
Click on icon on the right side of the editor menu to show advanced settings.
Click 'display settings' in the left menu that is now visible.
In eScan Academy images are displayed in so-called views, that are conveniently displayed as tabs. A case can have several different views, e.g. one for CT and one for a screenshot. In 'display settings' you can add, delete and customize views.
To create a new view, first you need to select your preferred option from the 'add new view' list. Remember you can add more views to the same case. There are different views available depending on your chosen specialty and sub-specialty.
How to chose view?
Grid 1 cell is the most common view. Choose this view if want to create 'find region of interest' or 'describe region of interest' questions. This view will allow you to add a drawing (segmentation layer) to your image. You can even choose this view if you want to display an image without a drawing, and works on both 2D or 3D images.
Grid 1x2: Choose this view if you want to display two images side by side, e.g. two x-rays from different angles. You cannot segment in this view.
Grid 1x4: Choose this view if you want to display four images side by side, e.g. anterior, posterior, previous anterior, and previous bone scintigraphy. You cannot segment in this view.
Grid 2x2: Similar to grid 1x4, but images are arranged in 2 columns and 2 rows, e.g. PET, CT, fusion, and MIP in one view. You cannot segment in this view.
Grid 3x3: Similar to grid 2x2, but images are arranged in 3 columns and 2 rows. You cannot segment in this view.
Grid 2x4: Similar to grid 2x2, but images are arranged in 4 columns and 2 rows. You cannot segment in this view.
Grid 2x6: Similar to grid 2x2, but images are arranged in 6 columns and 2 rows. You cannot segment in this view.
For PET/CT images we recommend Grid 2x2.
For cardiac spect we recommend InterlacedLayout.
Manually selecting view can be difficult. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
Drag and drop you desired view to the monitor. If you disable live preview your monitor should look something like this (grid 1 cell and Grid 1x2).
The monitor now have slots as per your chosen view. Now it is time to drag and drop your imported images to the slots. You can place your images in any order, you can leave slots empty, and you can remove images again by drag and drop to their original position above the monitor.
Please note, that for views where you can segment (e.g. Grid 1x2 for all radiology sub-specialties, Grid 2x2 for all hybrid imaging sub-specialties), the slot to the far right is reserved for the segmentation. This should be left empty or you should drag and drop an exiting segmentation (if any) to this slot.
For PET/CT we recommend Grid 2x2, where you place PET to the left, CT in the middle, and Segmentation to the right.
Saved views are conveniently located above the 'add new view' list, and saved views can be deleted or edited by drag and drop to the monitor.
